BBC Worldwide began releasing the show onto DVD in North America in 2004. Despite starting two years later than the
UK, the Americans are releasing the series much faster, with only the ninth series not yet scheduled. The only snag is
that the episodes have been converted into the 525-line NTSC format from the show's original 625-line PAL format.

The US releases have an advantage over the UK DVDs in that they
include extras! Series 1 includes an interview with Gorden Kaye taken
from the chat show Wogan, a clip of the cast singing "Under The Bridges
Of Paris" for Children In Need, cast biogs and the pilot script.
Series 2
includes two more excerpts from Wogan, one featuring Gorden Kaye
and Vicki Michelle performing their single Je T'aime and the other
featuring Gorden with Carmen Silvera, Richard Gibson and Kim Hartman,
who perform a scene from the stage show in character as Flick and Helga.
Series 3 includes a 1987 edition of Les Dawson's Blankety Blank, which
guest starred Gorden Kaye, Carmen Silvera, Richard Gibson, Vicki Michelle,
Guy Siner and Francesca Gonshaw, and an episode of Robert Kilroy Silk's
Day To Day, which discussed whether the show was offensive or not.
Series 8 contains the 1991 Christmas Special "Pregnancy" and the
40-minute Comedy Connections documentary first broadcast on BBC
One in 2006.
All nine series will also be released in Region 1 as a complete box
set on 7th October 2008, totally 19 discs. Click right for larger image!

Universal Playback handle the British releases, under licence from the BBC. Since 2002, four box sets have been
made available (the first five series), with a fifth set on the way (containing series 6 & 7). For the British releases,
official episode titles have been electronically added onto the start of each episode. The UK releases are encoded
in the show's original PAL format, but sadly lack any extras. Click the thumbnails below for larger high resolution
versions...
Meanwhile, there are plans to release the series in the UK as a magazine partwork series, published by GE Fabbri Ltd...

Each DVD (containing three episodes) is accompanied by a companion guide, priced £7.99 (with the exception
of issue one which retails at £2.99). More information is available at http://www.origin.uk.com/alloallo/ though
we feel obliged to point out that collecting the episodes this way would be very expensive. The first three DVDs
in the series appear regularly on eBay. We hope to bring you a full scan of the first volume in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, the complete series is available in Poland of all places - the discs are region 2 NTSC with both the original
English audio soundtrack and optional Polish dubbed soundtrack. So Poland is currently the only place on Earth you
can buy series 8 and 9..

Croatian fans have been treated to 22 DVDs of the series, with some very rare cover images to boot...

And Spanish fans can now buy series 1-4 in a box set...
The Swedish are also getting DVD releases - series 1 to 5 are currently available (the sharp eyed amongst you may
spot that Maria erroneously appears on the cover for series five)...

As you can see, it says 'Allo Allo!' on the cover, but the official Swedish title is actually 'Allå, allå, emliga armén' with the
letter å pronounced like the o's in 'door' or 'fore'. The title would literally translate back to English as 'Allo allo, ecret
army', since the Swedish word 'hemlig' means 'secret' but the first letter has been dropped.

The show is also available in Australia, released by ABC DVD in NTSC format. Series 1-6 are currently available.
The show is also available to collect in Australia through Time Life, although be warned they're much more expensive
than the ABC DVD releases above
- each volume only contains three episodes. Only series 1-5 have been released.
